What Facebook Ad Preview Builder does and how it behaves

The Facebook Ad Preview Builder places a proposed Facebook creative into four named contexts: feed, Stories, Reels, and right column. Supply the image and ad text, then inspect the placement views while checking the image ratio and the amount of text over the image. This is a preflight view for deciding whether one asset can be reused or needs a placement-specific version. The common mistake is treating a tidy preview as proof of approval or exact delivery. It does not represent Meta's policy review, auction, targeting, or every device-dependent rendering.

How the result is produced

1

Build the creative

Begin with the exact image and wording intended for the ad. The builder arranges those creative elements as a Facebook ad mockup rather than creating a campaign. Keep the inputs unchanged while comparing feed, Stories, Reels, and right column. That makes differences in cropping, available space, and text wrapping easier to attribute to the placement instead of to a different asset.

2

Check placement fit

The image-ratio check helps identify a mismatch between the asset's proportions and the selected placement. Use the text-overlay check for wording placed over the image, which is distinct from ordinary ad copy shown around the creative. A warning can prompt a new crop, a placement-specific asset, or less embedded wording. These checks do not determine whether the message itself complies with advertising policy.

Good uses

  • Testing whether a square retail image remains usable in feed and right column before a media buyer builds the campaign.
  • Comparing a vertical event promotion in Stories and Reels to decide whether each placement needs its own crop.
  • Reviewing artwork containing a price, offer, and disclaimer to catch a text-overlay concern before creative handoff.

Limits and checks

  • Placement mockups are approximations. Facebook interface changes, screen dimensions, and delivery context can affect cropping, line breaks, controls, and the amount of creative left visible.
  • An acceptable ratio or overlay result is not Meta approval. It does not evaluate prohibited content, restricted categories, landing pages, account status, targeting, or claims made in the ad.
  • Do not confuse text placed within the image area with primary text or other copy displayed by the ad interface. A text-overlay result concerns the image composition, not every written field in the ad.

Common questions

Can I publish the finished ad from this builder?

No. This tool is for composing and previewing creative in the browser. It does not upload the asset to Facebook, create an ad, select an audience, set a budget, or start delivery. Transfer the chosen image and copy into the campaign workflow separately. Because no campaign is created, the preview cannot provide an account-specific review or delivery result.

Does a passing check guarantee the same appearance and approval in Ads Manager?

No. A passing check means only that the current creative did not trigger the builder's image-ratio or text-overlay concern for the previewed placement. Ads Manager may show different device variants, crops, controls, or line breaks, and Meta performs its own policy review. Verify the final placement previews in the campaign interface and consult Meta's current creative guidance and advertising standards before launch.
