What OG Image Generator does and how it behaves

OG Image Generator combines supplied text and branding into an image intended for the og:image metadata property. It is useful for preparing the visual card shown when a page link is shared on social platforms. The composition is created in the browser, so entered wording and brand assets are not uploaded. The frequent misunderstanding is that generating the image also configures the website. It does not: the finished image still must be hosted and referenced by the page's Open Graph metadata.

How the result is produced

1

Compose the share image

Enter the wording that should appear in the social card and add the relevant brand treatment, such as a name or logo. The tool turns those elements into one visual composition. Keep important text concise and away from vulnerable edges because link-preview containers can crop, resize, or partially cover an image differently across sharing destinations.

2

Connect it to the page

The resulting image is an asset, not a complete Open Graph implementation. Place the image at a URL that social crawlers can retrieve, then identify that URL with the page's og:image metadata. The page should also provide the other metadata needed to describe the shared object. This generator does not verify hosting access, metadata placement, redirects, or crawler responses.

Good uses

  • Create a consistent branded card for a new article before its URL is announced on social networks.
  • Replace a generic website screenshot with an image whose headline clearly identifies a product launch, report, event, or campaign landing page.
  • Prepare separate share artwork for pages that reuse the same site template but need distinct titles and visual identities when their links are posted.

Limits and checks

  • Review text at a reduced display size. A headline that is readable on the editing canvas may become difficult to scan inside a compact feed card.
  • Allow for platform-dependent cropping and overlays. The generated composition cannot guarantee that every network will display every edge or use the same aspect ratio.
  • Confirm the live page references the correct, publicly reachable image URL. A visually correct result will not appear if metadata is missing, stale, blocked from crawlers, or still cached by a platform.

Common questions

Does generating the image automatically update my website's social preview?

No. The tool creates the visual asset only. Your page must publish an og:image meta property pointing to the hosted image, along with appropriate Open Graph metadata for the page. Social services may retain an older preview in their caches, so replacing the file or metadata might not be reflected immediately when the link is shared again.

Will the image look identical on every social platform?

No. Platforms can resize, crop, cache, or surround the image with different title and description treatments. Keep essential wording and logos comfortably inside the composition, avoid relying on small type, and inspect the live URL with the relevant platform's preview or debugging facility after publishing. The generator itself cannot predict every destination's final card layout.
