What Workout Rep Counter does and how it behaves

This tool replaces the mental tally and the gym-floor stopwatch: you tap to log each rep, it advances you to the next set once your target is hit, and it starts a rest-period countdown with an audio cue when time is up, so you don't have to keep checking your phone screen between sets. It also keeps a running log of completed sets and reps for the session. What trips people up most is assuming it senses reps automatically from phone motion or a wearable - it doesn't. Every rep and set advance is a manual tap, and the rest timer only starts when you tell it a set is finished.

How the result is produced

1

Manual set and rep entry

Each tap or button press logs one rep against the current set's target. When the target rep count is reached (or you manually end the set), the counter rolls over to the next set and resets the rep tally to zero, while keeping the prior set's numbers in the session log for that exercise.

2

Rest timer with audio cues

Finishing a set starts a countdown for the rest duration you configured. The tool plays a sound when the rest period ends (and typically as it approaches zero) so you can look away from the screen. Cues depend on the browser tab staying open and audio not being muted or silenced by the device.

Good uses

  • mid-set at the gym, tapping through reps instead of counting in your head or on your fingers
  • resting between sets on a consistent timer instead of eyeballing a wall clock or watch
  • reviewing after a session how many sets and reps you actually completed per exercise

Limits and checks

  • it does not detect reps automatically from phone motion, a camera, or a wearable - every rep is a manual tap, so a missed or double tap throws off the count for that set
  • audio cues need the browser tab active and the device not on silent; a locked screen or a backgrounded tab can suppress the sound so you miss the rest-over cue
  • the workout log is almost certainly kept in your browser rather than a server, so it won't be visible on a different phone or browser and can be lost if site data is cleared

Common questions

Does it count reps automatically using my phone's motion sensor?

No. There's no indication this tool reads accelerometer or camera data - you tap or press a button to log each rep and each set yourself. If you're looking for automatic rep detection, this isn't that kind of tool.

Will I still have my workout history the next time I open the tool?

Likely, if it's stored in your browser's local storage on the same device and browser, but this isn't guaranteed to sync across devices or survive clearing browser data. Treat the log as convenient in-session tracking rather than a permanent record unless the tool offers an export.
