What Slow Cooker Time Converter does, with a checked example
An oven recipe and a slow cooker recipe are the same dish cooked by different physics: the oven applies dry heat at 350 degrees F, while the slow cooker simmers low and moist at about 200 degrees F on LOW and 300 degrees F on HIGH. This tool swaps cooking time and heat setting between the two, in either direction, on the standard rule of thumb that one hour in the oven is roughly eight hours on LOW or four on HIGH. The surprise people hit: the result is an approximation, not a precise equation, and it assumes your dish is suited to slow cooking.

Slow cookers run far cooler than an oven and hold in their moisture, so the standard rule of thumb stretches each oven hour to roughly 8 hours on LOW or 4 hours on HIGH, with HIGH cooking about twice as fast as LOW. Both outputs cook the same dish; the choice is when you need it finished.
