What LinkedIn Post Preview does and how it behaves

LinkedIn Post Preview turns a webpage URL into a LinkedIn-style link card so you can review its displayed title, description, image, and destination before publishing a post. It presents the page's available sharing information as one card, making mismatched or missing elements easier to notice. Treat the result as a preflight check, not a promise of LinkedIn's final rendering. The common surprise is caching: LinkedIn may continue showing an older title or image after the source page changes, even when this preview reflects newer information.

How the result is produced

1

URL to card

Enter the webpage URL that will be shared. The tool arranges the title, description, representative image, and destination into a LinkedIn-style card. Review the assembled card rather than considering each field separately: a precise headline can still look misleading beside an unrelated image, and a useful description may lose important context when displayed in limited card space.

2

Preview interpretation

The rendered card is a browser preview of the URL's currently available sharing information. It neither publishes a LinkedIn post nor changes the source webpage. To alter the card, revise the page's sharing metadata and preview the URL again. LinkedIn's live result may remain different if its crawler receives other content or retains data from an earlier inspection.

Good uses

  • Checking a new article or landing page before a company page manager pastes its URL into LinkedIn, especially to confirm that the intended headline, description, and hero image appear as one coherent card.
  • Reviewing a campaign page after its title, description, or social image has changed, before colleagues or partners begin sharing the revised URL in LinkedIn posts.
  • Reproducing a URL's card presentation while investigating a blank image, outdated headline, unexpected description, or destination that looks unclear in a LinkedIn post draft.

Limits and checks

  • A matching preview does not guarantee an identical live post. LinkedIn controls its own crawler, cached data, card layout, and interface changes, so the published rendering may differ.
  • Pages behind authentication, bot restrictions, conditional redirects, or location-dependent responses may not provide LinkedIn with the same title, description, or image visible in your browser.
  • An image that appears suitable in this card can be cropped differently in another LinkedIn placement or viewport. Keep essential logos, faces, and embedded text away from the image edges.

Common questions

Will this tool refresh an outdated card already shown by LinkedIn?

No. LinkedIn Post Preview only renders a preview in your browser; it does not instruct LinkedIn to recrawl the page or replace cached card data. After correcting the source page, inspect its public URL with LinkedIn's Post Inspector. LinkedIn's next displayed card will depend on the content available during its own fetch.

Why does LinkedIn show a different title or image from the preview?

LinkedIn may have retained an earlier inspection, followed a redirect, or received different publicly accessible page information. Confirm that the final URL works without signing in and exposes the intended sharing title, description, and image. Then check the same URL in LinkedIn's Post Inspector. This preview cannot guarantee which eligible image or text LinkedIn will ultimately display.
