What App Store Screenshot Maker does and how it behaves

This tool composites a raw app screenshot into a device bezel (iPhone, iPad, or an Android phone/tablet outline), adds a caption or headline bar above, below, or overlaid on it, and flattens the result into a single export sized for that device's App Store or Play Store listing slot. You choose a frame, drop in the screenshot, type the caption and pick a background color, then download the PNG. What catches people out: the frame doesn't upscale a blurry or wrong-aspect-ratio screenshot to fill the canvas cleanly - a soft or cropped source image still looks soft or cropped inside a crisp bezel.

How the result is produced

1

Frame selection and image compositing

You pick a device profile - iPhone 6.1", iPhone 6.9", iPad 12.9", or an Android phone/tablet outline - and upload the raw screenshot. The tool scales the screenshot to fit the frame's screen cutout, keeping aspect ratio, then layers the bezel artwork on top so corners, notch, and side buttons sit correctly around your content.

2

Caption layer and export sizing

A text field lets you add a short marketing line, choose its position (above, below, or overlaid), font weight, and background color. When you export, the caption, screenshot, and bezel are flattened into one PNG sized to the canvas that device profile requires, so each frame you build becomes a separate file ready to upload individually.

Good uses

  • an indie developer building the batch of screenshots App Store Connect asks for across several device sizes
  • a marketer keeping caption wording and background color consistent across a whole screenshot set before a launch
  • someone swapping in translated captions on the same base screenshots for a localized store listing

Limits and checks

  • Apple and Google change required screenshot pixel dimensions and minimum/maximum counts from time to time; treat the tool's device presets as a starting point and confirm the current numbers on App Store Connect or Play Console before uploading, since a stale preset can get a whole set rejected.
  • The bezel only frames what you give it - if the source screenshot is lower resolution than the frame's canvas, the tool stretches it to fit, and that softness shows up inside an otherwise crisp device outline.
  • This produces image files only; it does not submit anything anywhere. You still download each export and attach it to the right screenshot slot in App Store Connect or Play Console yourself.

Common questions

Will the exported file be exactly the pixel size Apple or Google requires?

It exports at the canvas size built into the device preset you picked. Those presets are meant to match current App Store Connect and Play Console requirements, but since both platforms revise required sizes periodically, check your target size against the current upload requirements before submitting rather than assuming the preset is up to date.

Can I reuse one screenshot across multiple device frames without starting over?

You still apply a frame per device size you're targeting - an iPhone 6.9" export and an iPad 12.9" export are different canvases, so you select each profile and export separately, even though the underlying screenshot and caption text can stay the same.
