Rate schedule lookup
The tool holds the IRS-published rate schedule for the selected year and filing status, then taxes each slice of income at its own bracket rate. A single filer with $75,000 in taxable income pays 10% on the first $11,925, 12% on the next $36,550, and 22% on the remaining $26,525, which is why the sum ($11,414) is far below $75,000 times 22%.
