Placeholder Photo Gallery provides photographic stand-ins for mockups, prototypes, and wireframes. Enter the required width and height, browse the resulting Lorem Picsum images, and download a suitable photograph at those pixel dimensions. The requested rectangle determines the output shape, so a source photograph may be cropped to fit it. The main surprise is that dimensions identify a size, not a particular subject. Returning later with the same width and height does not necessarily reproduce the photograph previously chosen.

How the result is produced

Width and height define the pixel dimensions requested from Lorem Picsum. Their ratio also defines the shape of every result: 800 by 600 is landscape at 4:3, while 600 by 800 is portrait at 3:4. When a source photograph has another aspect ratio, parts of its composition can be excluded so the returned image fills the requested rectangle.

Choose and download

The gallery presents photographic candidates at the selected dimensions rather than producing one named or semantically matched subject. Browse the visible choices and download the one appropriate for the mockup. Choose the target dimensions before saving, since requesting another size creates a separately sized rendition and can change how the photograph is framed.

Good uses

Fill a set of news cards with varied photographs while testing whether an 800 by 450 image slot gives the intended widescreen composition and sufficient visual weight.
Download portrait placeholders for a mobile onboarding prototype when generic gray boxes would hide problems involving faces, texture, contrast, or text placed over photography.
Prepare a wireframe for offline review with actual image files at the intended pixel dimensions, avoiding a mockup that depends on placeholder URLs remaining available during the presentation.

Limits and checks

Do not treat width and height as an image identifier. They specify the output geometry, while the displayed photographic subjects can vary between gallery visits or requests.
A result fitting the requested rectangle may have a different crop from another size of the same source. Inspect important edges and focal points after setting the final aspect ratio.
Placeholder status does not automatically establish permission for every production use. Before publishing a selected photograph outside a mockup, identify its underlying source and confirm the applicable license or usage terms.

Common questions

Will the same dimensions always give me the same photograph?

No. A Lorem Picsum size request describes the dimensions of a placeholder image, not a permanent choice of subject. The gallery may present different photographs when it is opened or refreshed. If a mockup must retain one exact image, download that file and keep it with the project instead of relying on the gallery to recreate it.

Does changing the dimensions only resize the gallery preview?

No. The dimensions describe the requested output image, not merely its on-page display size. They also set its aspect ratio, which can alter the visible crop. Select dimensions matching the intended design slot, then inspect and download the resulting photograph rather than assuming a differently shaped version will preserve the same composition.
