What Logo Size Tester does and how it behaves

Logo Size Tester shows the same logo across a range of display sizes, from favicon-scale treatments to billboard-style previews. Zoomed views help reveal disappearing counters, crowded letterforms, weak outlines, and fine details, while context previews show whether the mark still reads in a plausible setting. The common mistake is judging a tiny logo after magnifying it. Zoom is useful for diagnosing why detail failed, but it does not make that detail legible at the original displayed size. Logo artwork remains in the browser and is not uploaded.

Repeated size comparison

The tester presents one logo at multiple scales so changes can be compared without switching among separately prepared files. At smaller sizes, inspect whether letters close up, narrow gaps merge, thin strokes vanish, or a symbol becomes ambiguous. At larger sizes, look for artwork defects that were hidden when the logo occupied fewer pixels. The result is a visual comparison, not a calculated legibility score.

Zoom and context views

Zoom exposes the edges and internal spacing responsible for a weak small-size result. Context previews address a different question: whether the logo has enough presence relative to its surroundings. Treat those views separately. Magnification helps diagnose construction, while the unmagnified preview represents the size decision. A billboard context indicates relative scale on screen, not literal physical dimensions or expected viewing distance.

Good uses

  • Choosing the smallest size at which a wordmark remains readable before publishing favicon, header, or compact navigation assets.
  • Comparing a detailed primary logo with a simplified small-size variant to determine where fine lettering or secondary shapes stop contributing.
  • Reviewing a proposed brand mark across tiny and large contexts before approving geometry that may reproduce well at only one end of the range.

Limits and checks

  • There is no universal minimum logo size. The acceptable threshold depends on the mark's geometry, surrounding contrast, intended viewing distance, and whether recognizing the symbol alone is sufficient.
  • If the supplied artwork is raster-based, blur or jagged edges may reflect its pixel dimensions rather than a flaw in the logo. Repeat critical checks using the production asset.
  • A browser preview cannot reproduce every favicon transformation, display density, print process, sign material, lighting condition, or distant viewing angle. Confirm important placements in their final medium.

Common questions

Should I use the zoomed view to decide whether the smallest logo passes?

No. Judge recognition and wordmark readability at the preview's normal displayed size. Use zoom only to identify the cause of failure, such as a closed counter, merged gap, or disappearing stroke. If a detail becomes understandable only after zooming, it is not reliably communicating at that nominal size. Consider simplifying the mark or switching to a small-size variant.

Does a good result guarantee that my favicon or billboard will reproduce correctly?

No. The tester helps compare apparent scale and legibility, but it does not certify a platform's favicon processing or a physical sign's production quality. Test favicon files in their actual browser and device contexts. For large-format work, review the final artwork with the producer and account for output resolution, fabrication limits, contrast, installation height, and viewing distance.
