How the result is produced

Frame the subject

Choose the crop so the subject occupies most of the retained area without touching the edges. Pixels outside the crop are excluded from the emoji artwork. Then use the resize control to set the working image to the needed compact dimensions. Excessive empty margin makes the finished emoji appear smaller when displayed in Slack or Discord.

Clear the background

Use the transparency tools on background areas that should disappear around the emoji shape. Fully transparent pixels show none of their original color, while partly transparent edge pixels can blend with the chat background. Inspect the outline closely for an opaque matte or pale fringe. The edit and image processing remain in the browser session.

Good uses

Cut a teammate's face or reaction out of a larger photograph, remove the surrounding scene, and frame the expression tightly for chat.
Turn a mascot, product symbol, or community badge from wide artwork into a compact custom emoji with transparent space around its outline.

Limits and checks

The maker prepares an image but does not add it to a Slack workspace or Discord server. Upload access and emoji-management permission remain separate.
Slack and Discord can impose their own supported-format, dimension, file-size, or animation requirements. Those platform rules are not established merely by producing an image here.
Transparency may look correct against one preview color but reveal pale or dark edge halos against another. Inspect the result against both light and dark backgrounds.

Common questions

Does making the image guarantee Slack or Discord will accept it?

No. The maker can crop, resize, and adjust the artwork, but acceptance is decided by the destination service and may also depend on your role in the workspace or server. Check the current Slack or Discord upload interface for supported formats and limits. The finished image is an asset to upload, not proof that an upload will succeed.

Can the maker make a blurry or detailed source look sharp as a tiny emoji?

No. Resizing can fit the artwork into a smaller image, but it cannot recover detail missing from the source or guarantee that fine features remain readable. Tight cropping, a simple silhouette, strong contrast, and little or no text generally survive emoji-scale display better than a full photograph or an intricate illustration.
