What Freelance Invoice Builder does, with a checked example
Freelance Invoice Builder assembles a client invoice from billable time, reimbursable expenses, invoice dates, payment terms, and an optional late-fee rule. Each time entry contributes its hours multiplied by its rate, while expenses appear as separate charges. The result provides an itemized balance and payment deadline, but it does not determine whether every charge is authorized by a contract. A common mistake is including an expense in a work charge and then entering it again as an expense, which overstates the invoice.
Worked example
A concrete input and expected output from the current implementation.
Input
Invoice date: 2026-08-01
Time entry: Logo revisions, 2.00 hours at USD 75.00 per hour
Expense: Font license, USD 20.00
Payment terms: 30 calendar days
Late fee: none
->
Expected output
Time charges: USD 150.00
Expenses: USD 20.00
Invoice total: USD 170.00
Due date: 2026-08-31
The time charge is 2.00 x USD 75.00 = USD 150.00. Adding the USD 20.00 expense produces USD 170.00, and 30 calendar days after August 1 is August 31.
