What Biweekly Mortgage Payment Calculator does and how it behaves
Biweekly payment plans split your monthly mortgage payment in half and collect it every two weeks instead of once a month. Because a year has 26 two-week periods, that works out to 13 full monthly payments a year instead of 12 - one extra payment, applied to principal, every year. The calculator takes your loan balance, rate, and term, builds both a standard monthly amortization schedule and the accelerated biweekly one, and reports the payoff date difference, total interest saved, and the two payment amounts side by side. The most common surprise: people assume biweekly means paying twice a month, which is only 24 payments a year and produces none of this effect.
