About HEIC Format

What is HEIC? High Efficiency Image Container (HEIC) is Apple's default photo format since iOS 11. It uses HEVC (H.265) compression.

Why convert? HEIC files are ~50% smaller than JPEG but not universally supported. Converting to JPEG ensures compatibility across all platforms.

Browser support: Safari on macOS/iOS supports HEIC natively. Chrome 118+ supports it on devices with hardware HEVC decoders. Firefox does not support HEIC.

iPhone tip: You can change your iPhone to capture in JPEG instead: Settings > Camera > Formats > Most Compatible.
